We believe, no child should miss out on playing sports
Team Sports 4 All was started by a two parents in 2011 who noticed two boys who watched their sons footy training and never joined in. When they asked the boys why they didn’t play the answer was simple; “our parents can’t afford to pay for us to play sport”.
They paid for the boys football registrations and uniforms and got them into a team; the boys jumped at the opportunity to play a sport that they loved.
In 2015 TS4A became a registered charity and received DGR status. In 2018 we started taking on volunteers so that we could assist more families and broaden our reach. 2019 and 2020 saw Covid get in the way of community sport which gave us time to plan and dream up big goals.
Since 2022 we have set up in multiple regions across Melbourne including – Bayside, Stonnington, Port Phillip, Maroondah, Glen Eira, Kingston, Frankston and most recently, Wyndham in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
We currently assist over 400 children with this number growing each month.
What we do
We help families experiencing severe financial hardship to get their kids playing sport.
Due to their situation they can’t afford the costs to have their children involved in community team sport.
With the cost of living continuing to rise, the need for our services is higher than ever.
We meet the families, connect them with a club, pay their fees & uniform costs, and most importantly give them ongoing support.
Sport can increased confidence and build higher self esteem.
The benefits we have seen over the years are plentiful and include:
Positive Social Behaviours
Kids learn positive social behaviours – teamwork, respect for coaches and officials, self-discipline, and the rewards of hard work.
No Judgement
When they put the uniform on they feel and look like “all” the other kids with no judgement or question about their situation.
Avoid Ridicule
They avoid the embarrassment, particularly in the schoolyard, of being disadvantaged and not being able to afford to play sport.
Better Health Outcomes
The obvious health benefits of a more active lifestyle.
Decreases Social Isolation
And perhaps most of all (and we really notice this as we work with these kids and their families), playing club sport connects the whole family with their community and decreases their social isolation.
