‘Clash of the Courts’ – an exciting netball competition raising money for disadvantaged children – took place on Sunday 19 November at Hampton Netball courts, in front of a very enthusiastic crowd!
The event brings women together to have fun and showcase the benefits of team sport, and raise money so more children can play sport through who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford it.
Participants included those who’d hardly played the game before, through to former Diamonds from the Australia National team!
The main sponsor Bendigo’s Community Bank Sandringham were so pleased to support for the second year running, again demonstrating their commitment to the local community.
Melbourne Vixen star Kate Eddy was proud to get involved on the day, and was inspiring the next generation of players as well as those on the court. Kate commented: “It was brilliant to see the passion from the players on the court, and everyone screaming from the sidelines, especially in such a close Grand Final! I’m so proud to support TeamSports4All and help them raise money for financially disadvantaged children so that they can play netball too.”
Two passionate netballers, Amanda and Alice organised the event and built on the success of the previous year. Amanda said “We were thrilled to see so many more players get involved this year, from so many schools! The atmosphere was electric, and everyone came with such a positive energy to have fun playing netball and raise some money for a worthy cause that’s close to all of our hearts. Thanks to everyone who took part and came along to support on the day – and if you’re interested in playing next year, make sure you follow us on Insta [link] so you don’t miss out!“
The MVP award was chosen by Kate Eddy and went to former Diamonds Natasha Chokljat who can add this accolade to her 30 Caps for Australia! Natasha said “It was such heart-warming day playing netball with over 70 passionate ladies in the spirit of having some fun and raising money to get more kids into sport, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to have these opportunities. We are incredibly proud of the efforts of our community and are on board to raise more funds and awareness of the charity for next year”.
Congratulations to the players from Blackrock Primary School who took out the Grand Final in an absolute thriller that came down to the wire!
